We’re passionate about animals.
Kevlar for K9s is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to help protect America’s working K9s, whether they’re serving domestically or overseas. These K9s represent the first line of defense in many military and civilian operations. They are the “go to” members of the team when suspicions of bombs exist or when dangerous criminals are on the loose. Whenever their handlers’ lives are threatened, the dogs’ lives are also threatened.
Unfortunately, these incredible K9s are being injured and killed. By providing these dogs with the same bulletproof, mortar-proof vests worn by our troops and law enforcement officers, we can help protect them from harm.
We feel it’s the least we can do. And it makes sense. That’s because the Kevlar vests offer a simple, highly effective form of protection.
Join us in making sure that no working K9 goes without the protection it desperately needs. Support Kevlar for K9s today.
Cindy Elkind – The heart and soul of Kevlar for K9s
Cindy Elkind brings a long list of experiences and abilities to Kevlar for K9s. For more than 25 years, she has worked as a volunteer for animal shelters and rescue groups. She has also volunteered the services of her own dogs in pet therapy programs at hospitals and hospices – even as intent “listeners” for children’s reading programs. A recognized expert in achieving animal wellness through diet, Elkind has also completed advanced college courses in animal physiology.
In addition to her lifelong devotion to animals, Elkind has worked at an executive level with a highly successful nationwide commercial real estate service organization for many years. She also served for 10 years as an account manager for a nationally traded healthcare organization. Her business background, along with her heartfelt dedication to animals and their needs, makes Elkind uniquely suited to running a successful nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the brave canines who work to protect us.
